Where possible and relevant, Nieuwe Instituut presents Dutch designers on an international design stage, such as in London, Venice and Milan.

World Expo Osaka 2025

Nieuwe Instituut is curator of the Dutch cultural programme at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan: a global event where more than 160 countries and organisations are brought together for cultural exchange and cooperation.

With the New Store, Nieuwe Instituut imagines a store where shopping helps the environment instead of harming it.

Forms of (ex-)Change — Leipzig Book Fair 2024

The Netherlands and Flanders are the guests of honour at the 2024 Leipzig Book Fair, the annual book and media fair held in Leipzig, Germany. Nieuwe Instituut is collaborating with its partners on Forms of (ex-)Change, an exhibition and talks exploring the role of the designer in giving form to every book, poster or website that is produced.

Plumbing the System — La Biennale di Venezia 2023

On show from 20 May to 26 November 2023, Plumbing the System, curated by architect and researcher Jan Jongert / Superuse Studios, is the official Dutch contribution to the 18th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.

In April 2023, Nieuwe Instituut and Triennale Milano present an installation devoted to Droog, the iconic Dutch design brand.

London Design Biennale 2023

Nieuwe Instituut is acting as both overall artistic director and commissioner of the Dutch pavilion at the fourth edition of the London Design Biennale, which takes place from 1 to 25 June 2023 in monumental Somerset House.

23rd International Exhibition Triennale Milano

The Solar Energy Kiosk

At the Salone del Mobile, the Milan design fair (7 and 12 June 2022), Het Nieuwe Instituut presented the Solar Energy Kiosk. Developed by Rotterdam-based design studio Cream on Chrome, the kiosk is an installation powered by solar energy. The Solar Energy Kiosk is intended to prompt discussions about solar energy and solar design. It will also function as a drop-off point for objects and ideas around the theme. The kiosk will also will form part of The Energy Show exhibition.
