The New Academy
After Summer School 2025
After Summer School returns from 18 to 21 September 2025 with four days of city classes scattered across Rotterdam. A wide variety of knowledge producers will share their methods for changing the city — by looking, listening, writing, archiving, collaborating, activating, researching, designing, and walking differently. While the full programme is announced later, a limited number of passe-partout tickets is now available.
Programme
After Summer School 2025 will feature contributions from Afrikaanderwijk Coöperatie, Di Fang en Colette Aliman, Loom, Niels Spaans, Nieuwe Instituut, OMI, Rosi Braidotti, Shay Kreuger, Stine Jensen / Erasmus School of Philosophy, Stadspark West, Varia, Verhalenhuis Belvédère, Vers Beton, Waterschool by Makking & Bey, Willemijn Lofvers, Zoöp and many others. The full programme and the time table will be available later this summer.
Register here if you want to be notified when we announce the full programme.
Passe-partout tickets are now available
Passe-partout tickets for all four days are now available — only until July 31 or while supply lasts. For just €30, the passe-partout gives access to up to ten classes of your choice (regular price: €5 per class). Available for a limited time only — don’t miss out.
Tickets for separate classes will go on sale once the full programme is announced.
The New Academy
The New Academy is an initiative of the Nieuwe Instituut in collaboration with philosopher Rosi Braidotti that reimagines Rotterdam as a knowledge city. It aims to create a local platform for new ways of learning to address complex social and ecological challenges together. It is centred around knowledge that is city-based, minoritarian, more-than-human, and embodied. As one of its activities, The New Academy develops a Curriculum for Change: a series of courses, talks, workshops and other activities that show and teach a plural, inclusive and interdisciplinary (design) approach to the city.
