For the archive collection, you can do this by sending an email with the inventory numbers you want to view to collection@hetnieuweinstituut.nl. You can choose archive material in our inventory via our Search Portal.
  • In addition to the documents you want to view, you should include the following details in your email: desired date of visit and a second option, desired time slot(s) and any other comments.
  • You will receive a confirmation of your appointment. Without this confirmation, your reservation is not valid.

Reserving archive materials

The collection of Het Nieuwe Instituut can be perused online via the Search Portal. An online reservation is required in order to be able to do research in the archives. To be able to process your application in time, we ask that you submit your reservation at least 48 hours in advance by clicking on the reservation button in the Search Portal or by sending an e-mail to collection@hetnieuweinstituut.nl. The reservation buttons can be found under the description of the inventory numbers in the archive. An inventory number is the four-letter archive code + a letter and/or number combination. For example BERL44.3 or BROX7t2453

Reservations for Tuesday should be submitted at the latest by the Thursday of the week before. If we have a large volume of reservations, we may ask that you schedule your visit for another day.

In connection with the restoration project Disclosing Architecture, some of our collections may be temporarily unavailable. Contact the Research Centre for more information by sending an e-mail to collection@hetnieuweinstituut.nl.

Consulting the library collection

The library collection is not available for loan and can only be consulted on site. You don't need to submit a request in advance to view the collection. Publications that are kept in the depot will be collected for you to peruse at the Research Centre, after you complete an application form.

Reproductions

There are various possibilities to reproduce material from the collections of the Nieuwe Instituut. In the Research Centre, you can copy, scan and (digitally) photograph documents yourself. However, archival material can only be copied by making a request to our Reproduction Service.

If you want to scan pages from our library collection you'll be able to use the book scanners available. The files can be sent to the computers in the Research Centre or saved on a USB stick.

Groups

Groups are welcome at the Research Centre. However, we do ask you to register a group (more than two people) in advance by mailing collection@hetnieuweinstituut.nl. The general rules for reserving archival materials apply.
