Open Calls

Nieuwe Instituut issues several open calls each year, inviting individuals and collectives to contribute to the institute’s activities, for example with a research proposal, fellowship, guest essay or artwork.

Re-Centre

Drop in to the Re-Centre during museum opening hours. It’s a place where you can work, read books and magazines or visit a mini exhibition. Or make an appointment to consult the archives of the National Collection.

The International Clinics provide a platform for Netherlands-based designers to gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities, challenges and best practices of working internationally.

Two online platforms provide access to the collection. The Search Portal is for those who are looking for specific items in the collection, while the Collection Platform is for those who want to explore the collection in a more intuitive way.

As the name suggests, with Workspace the Nieuwe Instituut offers places to work for creative entrepreneurs and enterprising creatives in the field of architecture, design and digital culture.

Future Studio Oostkop

Future Studio Oostkop is a workspace at the Nieuwe Instituut open to anyone interested in contributing to the spatial future of the Netherlands through design research.

Design Commissions

Nieuwe Instituut has commissioned many designers to work on our projects, in fields ranging from graphic design to spatial and exhibition design to digital design. This page collects and reflects upon a selection of these commissions.

The Network Archives Design and Digital Culture

The Network Archives Design and Digital Culture (NADD) works together on developing sustainable solutions to preserve design and digital culture archives and make them accessible.
