After Summer School: Friday

During the After Summer School, over 20 public classes will take place throughout the city, presenting Rotterdam as a hub for knowledge that deserves to be recognised and included in the city development. On this final day, we’re closing off the After Summer School with Fenmei Hu, Varia, Concrete Blossom, a Cape Verdean Soundtrack of the City, and a festive conclusion.

4 October 2024 09:30 - 21:00

The closing day will focus on the power of affirmation as a necessary element for change. It focuses on affective and cognitive methods of sharing knowledge, which connect with our emotions, imagination, and desires to persevere to the best of our abilities.

Insight of the Day podcast (all day)

  • By Stine Jensen
  • Location: Nieuwe Instituut
  • Language: English/Dutch

In the chaotic times in which we live, philosophy often fulfils the role that religion used to play. Without religion, the wisdom of others can provide guidance on how to think and how to live. In the daily podcast Zin van de Dag ('Insight of the Day', philosopher, writer and podcaster Stine Jensen offers new wisdom, based on a particular insight into life. This special series, launched during the After Summer School, features episodes with philosopher Rosi Braidotti and Francien van Westrenen, head of Agency at the Nieuwe Instituut. Visit the listening booth at the Nieuwe Instituut and have a listen.
