Loop EarthRise Urn™ by Loop Biotech
Giving back to nature after death is regeneration at its finest. The Loop EarthRise Urn™ has been designed to enrich nature and creates a new way of remembrance for loved ones that have passed.
Loop BioTech, founded by Bob Hendrikx and Lonneke Hendrikx-Westhoff, grows the world's first living urn. Once buried in a cemetery or natural burial ground, the urn becomes a new source of life. The biodegradable nature feeds the earth with nutrients that encourage ecosystem growth and local biodiversity. The urn also features an optional lid with a hole, allowing a plant to grow on top of it.

Rather than manufactured, the urns are grown from the mycelium of mushrooms in only seven days. This intricate root network feeds fungi, as they retrieve their nutrients from the branch mass, called 'hyphae'. After it has finished growing in the mould, the urn can be buried, transforming organic matter into nourishment for the earth.
