Eggshell Ceramics by Atelier LVDW
It's all in the name! These Eggshell Ceramics are made out of leftover eggshells that the food industry would have considered trash. Atelier LVDW turns waste into beautiful home decor.
Did you know that the Netherlands is the world’s largest egg exporter, producing 10 billion eggs a year? Most eggshells will be discarded rather than recycled, despite the nutrition their nature offers to soil. Atelier LVDW turns this waste into beautiful home decoration. Eggshell Ceramics, designed by Laura van de Wijdeven, consist of all natural materials, from the binding agent to the dye.
Price: €90 - €210
In addition to their artful appearance, the ceramics are durable. However, keep in mind, they should not be in contact with water, as the ceramic pieces are decorative, rather than operative. If your eggshell pottery breaks or becomes water-damaged, you can compost it or even dissolve it in water, releasing the calcium carbonate for the benefit of soil.
