The Centaur Model?

Bot Club investigates the possibilities of Garry Kasparov's 'centaur model' as a metaphor for healthy working relationships between humans and artificial intelligences. Human-AI relations are complicated and often downright disfunctional. At this event, the aim is to bring the myths, technologies and politics of human-AI relationships closer together - from a position of mutual respect, yet with an awareness of each other's shortcomings.

Legal Bots

In the legal field, automation is rife. Some lawyers claim that by 2030 [99% of legal procedure can be automated](http://medium.com/@deJuristen/waarom-we-met-thejurists-europe-de-allereerste-b2b-juridische-robot-lanceren-3309d4188115). Legal Bots looks at different attempts to fuse the law and programming language together. To what extent can we translate the spirit of the law into the letter of computer code? Criticial Bots

On 15 and 16 June 2017 _The_ _Bot Club (humans welcome): Critical Bots_ event was held at Het Nieuwe Instituut. During the Thursday Night Live! _The Bot Club: Critical Bots_ event, Julian Oliver and Anne Helmond gave lectures and the next day a _Hackathon _was organized. _Criticial Bots_ was the second edition of Bots Club (humans welcome), a recurring program on algorithmic culture by Het Nieuwe Instituut.
