The New Uniform
'This is the way to create belonging and agency, with a resulting sense of inclusivity.'
In the Temporary Fashion Museum the perspective of the user plays an important part. In line with this idea, Het Nieuwe Instituut took the opportunity to update its hospitality team's clothing. During a series of workshops led by fashion designer Pascale Gatzen, the team developed their own uniform. This final edition of View on Fashion offers visitors a behind-the-scenes view of the realisation of the new uniform, from the first conceptual sketches via the deconstruction of existing garments to the production of the final prototypes.

Pauline van Dongen
"'If we look at the world around us, we see that everything is becoming smarter, more flexible and more fluid. And I believe that fashion also has to respond to that."
The common thread that runs through View on Fashion V - _Body Informs Material Informs Body _is Van Dongen's long-term experimentation with and quest for a certain dynamism in materials.

"If you and I both stood in an empty, entirely white room you would see a hundred possibilities and I would see a hundred entirely different possibilities".
The space comprises a screen with a Tumblr page that slowly grows in unexpected ways, the same way the Internet does. By adding that hashtag to images where that vision is applicable, it might just end up right there. We have reached a point where we can agree: Nothingness is everything.

Pascal Gatzen
"We express ourselves through our clothes, and fashion is the aspect that connects us. In coming together we experience the unique quality of who we are."
In the early 1990s fashion designer Pascale Gatzen was part of Le Cri Néerlandais together with Saskia van Drimmelen, Lucas Ossendrijver and Viktor & Rolf. This group of fashion graduates from the Arnhem Academy of Art and Design were the first Dutch designers to show their collections in Paris. Gatzen is Associate Professor of Fashion at Parsons The New School for Design in New York, where she has developed and implemented a new fashion curriculum. She is also involved in setting up a cooperative for local textile producers in the Hudson Valley. She is currently working with Friends of Light on With Light, a series of hand-woven garments in the spirit of Coco Chanel.
View on Fashion III by Pascal Gatzen opens on 10 December during the Thursday Night: 'On Fashion and Belonging'.

Liselore Frowijn
"Prints are more interesting than silhouettes".
Prints play an important role in Liselore Frowijn's collections. She assembles eclectic images from her environment, press clippings and exhibitions, and fragments of music and memories from her travels and processes them to create new designs. In View on Fashion II Frowijn presents her prints on a monumental scale as independent images. These are combined with various designs from her fashion collections in which the experience of the colourful, graphic prints is central.

Blommers and Schumm
"Blommers & Schumm like to work with things they know, on familiar terrain. 'And outside that is the other world. Our work consists of the coincidental combinations that occur between the two.'"
The series kicks off with photographers Anuschka Blommers and Niels Schumm. Blommers and Schumm have worked as a duo since 1996. Their work questions the conventions of fashion photography and the role of the body. It occupies a territory between fashion, photography and art with constantly shifting perspectives and meanings. They have contributed to numerous magazines including Fantastic Man and The Gentlewoman. Their photographs are in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and FOAM and have been exhibited in museums around the world. For the Temporary Fashion Museum Blommers / Schumm made an installation for View on Fashion I based on their own archive.
Blommers and Schumm took part in the Creators' Night 'Fashion as Image' on 1 Oktober 2015 at Het Nieuwe Instituut.
