Temporary Fashion Museum
For the Temporary Fashion Museum Job Wouters has made a series of four murals, each devoted to a different characteristic of fashion.
Wouters began his career as a typographer. Letters and words remain important elements in the monumental wall paintings he has made in recent years. In Wouters' work generic words and sentences take on a specific and sometimes poetic meaning due to the context in which he places them. He seeks ways of giving the letters a spatial quality through colour and form. He is particularly interested in the workings of ornamentation and the way patterns are formed by the meticulous repetition of bands.
Job Wouters will unveil his second mural during the Thursday Night on 29 October.
Since 2014 Wouters has made a series of murals in the foyer of Het Nieuwe Instituut.
Below a time-lapse film of his latest mural, made in February 2016.
