The Hoodie
30 November 2019 - 22 August 2020
Het Nieuwe Instituut is looking for hoodies! Open Call
The exhibition The Hoodie, starting on 1st December 2019, explores the role of a fashion garment as a socio-political carrier. In this exhibition, curated by British writer and curator Lou Stoppard, the hoodie is a "storyteller".
To show all the diverse meanings of this garment, an installation has been made with around 60 hoodies, including a selection of pieces submitted via this open call.
In addition to unique pieces from renowned brands, we also want to share the story of your hoodie in the exhibition!
Check out the latest hoodies the public have sent in to be part of the installation.
1. Send an e-mail to thehoodie@hetnieuweinstituut.nl with the subject "Open Call". Please include a photo of your hoodie, brand name, year of the collection, purchase location and a short description of what this particular hoodie means to you.
2. If your hoodie is selected, it should be sent to Het Nieuwe Instituut.
3. Your hoodie will be shown during the duration of the exhibition The Hoodie in a special installation. You will also receive two invitations for the exclusive opening night on 30th November. In addition, you will be credited in The Hoodie's webmagazine.
4. At the end of the exhibition, your hoodie needs to be picked up at Het Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam.
