TACK x Jaap Bakema Study Centre
Communities of Tacit Knowledge: Architecture and its Ways of Knowing, or simply TACK, aims to gain a better understanding of the tacit knowledge that architects use when designing buildings and cities. TACK is an Innovative Training Network as part of the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions within the European Horizon 2020 Framework Programme. It is formed by ten European academic institutions, three leading cultural institutions for architecture, and nine leading architectural firms. These partners jointly offer an innovative PhD training programme in the field of tacit knowledge in architecture, resulting in ten parallel PhD projects.
Communities of Tacit Knowledge: Architecture and its Ways of Knowing, or simply TACK, is an international research project that aims to gain a better understanding of the often implicit experiential knowledge which architects draw on when designing buildings and cities. TACK, formed by ten European academic institutions, three cultural institutions for architecture and nine architectural firms, initiated a first series of TACK Talks in 2020.
From Thursday 21 May 2020 to Thursday 23 July 2020, the TACK network organised a series of nine online TACK Talks focused on the theme: How Do We Know? In this series, nine architectural firms from Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Britain and Austria who are partners in the TACK network revealed how their work is the result of examinations of knowledge, and how tacit knowledge is part of the conversation and the communication with others.
