Bureau B+B

Founded in 1977, Bureau Bakker en Bleeker, later known as Bureau B+B, played a key role in the development of Dutch landscape architecture. As one of the first non-hierarchical collectives, founded by two women, the firm contributed to gender equality in the profession and served as a platform for new design talent.

In almost 50 years, Bureau B+B has built up a unique archive that provides an exceptional insight into the development of landscape architecture. It documents a wide range of projects, from garden designs to large-scale landscape visions, both in the Netherlands and internationally, and is a valuable source of inspiration for the profession.

But the archive is under pressure. The digital and physical storage of the material poses risks such as unreadable files and potential damage due to inappropriate storage conditions. In addition, a new home for the archive will need to be found in 2025, which could make access to this important heritage even more difficult.
