Design Commissions
Patrick Coppens is an editorial and graphic designer with a sharp eye for concept and typography. He designed the exhibition graphics and printed matter for _Structuralism _(2014). In 2002 Coppens co-founded the design studio Coppens Alberts. From 2004 to 2010 he taught in the graphic design department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Since 2010 he has taught typography on the undergraduate graphic design course at ArtEZ in Arnhem.
Structuralism
The _Structuralism _exhibition focused on Dutch Structuralisme, a movement in architecture in the late '50s and early '60s that renounced the technocratic planning that characterised the post-war reconstruction of the country. Instead, its proponents asked space for the poetic and emotional aspects of architecture, in order to come to a truly dignified living environment. _Structuralism _took the form of a dual exhibition; one part was curated by architect Herman Hertzberger, the other part showed the first outcomes of a long-term scientific research project by the Jaap Bakema Study Centre
