Purpose of visit

Troy Conrad Therrien starts his stay in the Netherlands by holding a lecture at the invitation of The Berlage. This lecture at TU Delft discusses 'prometheanity' as contemporary theology. In addition, Therrien's visit focuses on expanding his network in the field of architecture and exploring possible collaborations. He is also here to learn about architectural developments in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. That is why he is visiting OMA/AMO in Rotterdam and will explore the city by bike and boat. In Amsterdam his programme includes the Benno Premsela Lecture 2015 by Benjamin Bratton. Finally, he is a special guest at the Total Space research workshop at Het Nieuwe Instituut. The impact of digital technology on architecture and urban design will be examined in more detail in short presentations and exploratory discussions.

Bio

Initially trained as a computer engineer, and later in architectural design, history and theory, Troy Conrad Therrien has held positions as an architect, creative technologist, innovation consultant, and scholar. He has worked as a Curator for Architecture and Digital Initiatives at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum since 2014. His current research focuses on the relationship between architecture, communication technology and political economy. Read more
