International Visitors Programme
During Dutch Design Week, the organisation invited New Order of Fashion (NOoF) designer Matthew Needham for an in-depth NOoF Talk and to inspire a new generation of NOoF talents as a mentor in the NOoF LAB. The New Order of Fashion Foundation recently worked closely with Needham on the Long Live Fashion exhibition in the Textielmuseum, which was on display from 25 September 2021 to 27 March 2022.
Needham has an activist approach and is a strong communicator: both are necessary for a new view on the fashion system. The conversation with Mud Jeans CEO Bert van Son, who was joined by moderator and expert in the field Simon Angel, was recorded and broadcast from the Student Hotel in Eindhoven.
NOoF talent Matthew Needham (London, MA Fashion Central Saint Martins) is an award-winning fashion designer and 'upcyclist' whose work reflects the fashion industry's need for innovative ideas. His progressive solutions and unorthodox use of materials are both innovative and educational. Since graduating, Matthew has focused on the use of waste materials and post-consumer fashion. Materials from illegal landfills (fly-tipping) or leftover batches from leading fashion houses are an indispensable part of his collections. In his view, discarded materials represent a meaningful history and thus value. This in-depth value and his unique storytelling characterise his work. Needham has always shown himself able to provide well-founded impulses to change the current fashion system.
New Order of Fashion is an international platform for exceptional fashion talent. It supports fashion sustainability by presenting innovative and radical perspectives through innovation, experimentation and co-creation. New Order of Fashion strives to advance the industry's transition to a fully circular practice.
