Purpose of Visit
Nadia Al Issa-Christidi will participate in the opening symposium of Fluid Rhythms (August 16), a seven-month multidisciplinary programme on living and moving in the city, organized by Open Set. With her talk Bird Song in Bijlmermeer: The Poetry and Politics of Intimate Entanglements Christidi is part of the talks program of the symposium. The purpose of her visit is to exchange knowledge with international fellow artists and researchers and to expand and perpetuate an international network. During her visit to The New Institute, Christidi gets to meet employees of het Het Nieuwe Instituut and will visit the exhibitions.
Function
Nadia Al Issa - Christidi is a Syrian, Palestinian and Greek researcher, writer and artist based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her field of research is the relationship between modern warfare, media technology and natural sciences. With her current work Christidi studies the politicization of nature and the naturalization of politics. She has exhibited at Beirut Art Center with Untitled (8 km - A Tribute to Danis Tanović) (2011), SALT Galata, Instanbul with B is for Botany as I is for Identity and Cultivating Exile (2015) and SALT Ulus, Ankara with _Outside the Sentence There was a City _(2016). Christidi is a PhD student in History, Anthropology, and Science and Technology, and Society at MIT.
