Urban anthropologist Katrina Johnston-Zimmerman from Philadelphia (US) attended the International Rooftop Knowledge Day 2022 in the Netherlands from 1 to 7 June. This annual English-language knowledge event, focusing on the potential of roofs, is organised by Rotterdamse Dakendagen in collaboration with the Architecture Institute Rotterdam (AIR). This seventh edition of the event was part of the programme of Rotterdam Roof Days 2022 and Rotterdam Architecture Month 2022.
Katrina Johnson-Zimmerman
As an urban anthropologist, Katrina Johnson-Zimmerman (US) views the city as a human habitat. She is particularly interested in the role of urban planning in promoting (in)equality in society (equitable urbanism). For the Rooftop Knowledge Day, Johnson-Zimmerman led a workshop on Urban Placemaking on Rooftops and was part of a panel discussion with Helen Toxopeus and Jacintha Scheerder to explain the programme.
