Purpose of visit

During the annual design conference What Design Can Do Fred Gelli and Aline Cavalcante are participating as keynote speakers. In addition the visitors will have a meeting with several organizations, such as Piet Zwart Institute, Superuse Studios, APPM and Cyclespace.

Function

Fred Gelli is the co-founder and CEO of strategic design consultancy Tátil. For more than 25 years Tátil uses design to create sustainable connections between people and major brands, such as Coca-Cola, P&G, Philips and TIM. Gelli's latest achievement was designing the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games brands and Creative Director of Paralympic Opening and Closing Ceremony Rio 2016. In 2014, Gelli was included in Fast Company's ranking of the 100 Most Creative in the world, while his company was included in the Top 10 Most Innovative in South America.

Journalist Aline Cavalcante has made it her mission to promote the advantages of bicycling in one of the world's most motorized cities: São Paulo. She gets herself noticed on two wheels as an advocate of cyclists' rights, while encouraging more women in particular to take to the road in safety. Because of her cyclo-activism Cavalcante featured as the leading character in a prize-winning documentary Bikes vs Cars by Swedish director Fredrik Gertten.
