International Visitors Programme
In 2014, as in the previous year, Het Nieuwe Instituut co-organised a visitors' programme with the Netherlands embassy in Warsaw. The embassy has a longstanding relationship with the leading magazine Murator Architektura, which maintains a great interest in Dutch architecture. The visit focused on architecture, public space, water, urban planning, bicycling, energy and Second World War bunkers. Editor-in-chief Ewa Porębska, architecture critic Grzegorz Stiasny and photographer Marcin Czechowicz visited numerous designers and viewed projects in locations including Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
The visit resulted in an 11-page special Dutch issue featuring Adriaan Geuze of West 8, LOLA Landscape Architects, RAAAF (Rietveld Architecture-Art-Affordances) and Rotterdam Centraal station. Het Nieuwe Instituut also received extensive coverage. The gist of the article: Dutch architects are visionary and ultra-pragmatic - qualities Poland can use too.
