International Visitors Programme
Het Nieuwe Instituut helped creative consultant/producer Rachel Feuchtwang and the Rotterdamse Schouwburg's Festival De Keuze to produce the mobile performance work Give Me Back My Broken Night by covering travel and accommodation expenses for three British guests. Paul Clarke and Jessica Hoffman of the theatre company Uninvited Guests and Duncan Speakman of the artists' collective Circumstance came to the Netherlands as part of the International Visitors Programme. Het Nieuwe Instituut organised an itinerary for them designed to provide inspiration for the workshop.
Participants in the Give Me Back My Broken Night workshop , who included urban planners and architects, took a walk through Rotterdam and discussed scenarios for how people might live and work in the cities of the future. An illustrator then made drawings from the group's ideas, which were presented to the public by means of a nighttime tour involving mobile technology and projections at a location in the city. The participants and audience praised this joint, holistic approach to urban development as refreshing and inspiring.
