Cope works in the digital innovation department of the Cooper Hewitt design museum in New York. Het Nieuwe Instituut invited him to talk about the use of new digital applications in museums at the Digital Strategies for Heritage (DISH) conference on 2 and 3 December. The institute was a co-organiser of the conference. Cope also took part in an inspiration session with institute staff members.
About Aaron Straub Cope
Aaron Straub Cope is Canadian by birth and American by descent. He is currently a senior engineer for internets and computers at the Smithsonian Institution's Cooper Hewitt national design museum. Before that, he was a senior engineer at Flickr, focusing on all things geo-, machinetag- and galleries-related, and a design technologist and director of inappropriate project names at Stamen Design, where he created the Prettymaps and Map=Yes projects. His work has been exhibited at places such as the Museum of Modern Art and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. He blogs at thisisaaronland.
