In the context of the exhibition Finders Keepers, Het Nieuwe Instituut is organizing a conversation between architect and design critic Sam Jacob and Louise Harpman addressing our obsessive and uncomfortable relationship with objects and new possibilities for design. Moderated by artist Hanna Mattes. Also an interlude by Dead Darlings that gives the audience a chance to start their own collection.

The exhibition Finders Keepers, a 'grande parade' of collections, includes Iza van Riemsdijk's collection of fly swatters. Her collection numbers more than 2500 examples from all around the world.

In relation to the exhibition Finders Keepers, Ilka van Steen talks about the ins and outs of collecting design. How do you recognise a good design object? And how do you start a collection? She will show what is important, according to gallery and crafts workshop, Morentz, in building a good design collection.

In the context of the exhibition Finders Keepers Charles Brooking talked about his fascination with period detail and how it led to his renowned collection of staircases and windows.

Issue number 5 of MacGuffin magazine, entitled 'The Cabinet', opens up the curious life of the cabinet, where intimate stories are hidden away, kept and inevitably shown. The launch took place on 14 December 2017 in Het Nieuwe Instituut, where the exhibition Finders Keepers is currently on show.

In the context of the exhibition Finders Keepers, Mitchell Esajas talks about the Black Archives, a collection of archives, libraries and artefacts relating to black writers and scholars.

Since 2014, Het Nieuwe Instituut has involved designers, artists and researchers in opening up its collection and entices them to explore the role of an archive in their work. Over the past four years, this initiative has resulted in some remarkable projects that have been presented at home and abroad, but not in the institute itself. Archive Interpretations offers the perfect context to now bring home four different projects.
