New Store x Organizmo: Designing with Care
Emerging architects and designers are invited to join this hand-on workshop, hosted by Organizmo in the Nieuwe Instituut, to explore design as a living infrastructure of care through practice of deep listening. By joining one of the workshops you can engage with practical tools and embodied exercises that foster dialogue between people, place, and the more-than-human world.

Moving beyond conventional design approaches, the workshops introduce regenerative co-design methods rooted in ecological awareness, material sovereignty, and relational ways of knowing. By exploring the connections between body, territory, and community, participants will gain new perspectives and practical tools for creating designs that are responsive, collaborative, and deeply grounded in their context.
The workshops are structured around four different approaches to listening. After an introductory session, participants can choose which workshop they wish to attend.

Sacred Geometries and Geometries of the Cosmos
In what ways can architectural geometry help to preserve collective memories and transmit knowledge relating to particular places, as well as broader insights about the Earth and the cosmos? -
Material Sovereignty and Living Materialities
What happens when building materials are protected, harvested and processed by the people who will ultimately transform them into buildings and other structures themselves? -
Ecological Calendar
How can we design living architecture that moves with the rhythms of an ecosystem and creates space for the interaction between different forms of life, rather than attempting to stop or control the passage of time? -
Horizontal Governance and Listening Technologies
How can we better listen to the voices of local communities in order to strengthen their control, self-governance and autonomy in collaborative design and construction processes?
The afternoon will conclude with a joint session after the workshops.
