Het Nieuwe Instituut is offering designers, makers and others the chance to share their own solar energy concepts through Solar Ideas, an open call for objects, drawings, photos, texts and other contributions.

Het Nieuwe Instituut wants your solar ideas!
In Rotterdam on 3 September 2022, Het Nieuwe Instituut launched the exhibition The Energy Show - Sun, Solar and Human Power. The show is all about the potential of solar energy and technology. What does 'designing with the sun' really mean? In what ways could solar design reshape the relationship between people, the sun and the environment? The Energy Show brings together work by leading artists, designers and researchers from around the world who are contributing to the field of solar energy and solar design. The exhibition encourages visitors to take a critical look at one of the most important issues of our time - based on the challenges posed by designing with, for and under the sun. The Energy Show is part of the very first edition of the Solar Biennale, which will be held in Rotterdam.
Please note that you can currently no longer submit your own ideas. The deadline was 21 August 2022.
To showcase the many different possibilities of the sun and solar energy, the exhibition The Energy Show - Sun, Solar and Human Power includes an installation featuring solar ideas from people all over the world. Besides unique works by designers and artists, we would also like to feature your story, object or idea in the exhibition!
