Heritage Futures: A Training Programme for Makers and Archivists

Home

Tracks

The programme serves to equip heritage professionals, both working at community-managed/grassroots archives and larger heritage institutions. The programme is divided over three distinct tracks: How to Archive Better?; How to Decolonise Archives?; and How to Archive Together?

The tracks are to be workshopped collectively based on the insights, tools, and knowledge carried by the Heritage Futures Knowledge Partners. Examples are the existing manuals by Nieuwe Instituut's Collecting Otherwise project and Network Archives Design & Digital Culture (NADD). These will be enriched during the programme development sessions to produce new handbooks.

The goal of these sessions is to build a training programme syllabus/coursebook, which serves to train the programme Trainers, and align on subsequent workshops, which will take place in 2027 and 2028. Ultimately, the curriculum will help build fundaments for future heritage professionals and community archivists.
