A new look at the work of Nelly and Theo van Doesburg is possible thanks to the restoration of their architecture archive. The exhibition recognises Nelly as a key figure in the consolidation of the reputation of Van Doesburg and De Stijl.

Structuralism
Dutch Structuralism is a movement in architecture in the late '50s and early '60s that renounced the technocratic planning that characterised the post-war reconstruction of the country. Instead, its proponents asked space for the poetic and emotional aspects of architecture, in order to come to a truly dignified living environment.

Research into the origins and significance the structuralist drawing: abstract structures, geometric patterns with bright colours, visualisations of network-like cities, grids, collages and booklets.
100 years of De Stijl
To celebrate the hundredth anniversary of De Stijl, Het Nieuwe Instituut has formed partnerships with several other cultural institutions, including a co-production with the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague.

Habitat: Expanding Architecture
Habitat: Expanding Architecture captures a key moment in the history of architecture and urban planning: the tenth CIAM conference at Dubrovnik in 1956. Here the concept 'habitat' was a central theme: a broader understanding of architecture through a new ecological approach.
