Uniform for Change
7 March 2021 09:15 - 9 April 2021 09:15
Under the banner of Uniform for Change, Clothes for Progress is selling 30 hoodies from The Hoodie exhibition. The proceeds from these hoodies, which have been customised with specially designed, screen printed "charity stickers", will be donated to anti-racist initiatives in the Netherlands and beyond.
Clothes for Progress
Clothes for Progress (C4P) is a fundraising platform that sells second-hand clothing to raise money for anti-racist organisations, including Black Lives Matter UK, Nederland Wordt Beter, National Bailout, Black Queer and Trans Resistance Nederland and The Black Archives. Originally, the platform emerged from a residency at Unfair", where the group sold their own upcycled designs and invited artists from their network to create unique, wearable pieces of clothing/art.
All the clothing that the platform sells acts as a "uniform" that permanently reminds us that there is work to be done, a uniform for change.
Het Nieuwe Instituut x Clothes for Progress (C4P): The Hoodie
Het Nieuwe Instituut received and purchased a number of hoodies for The Hoodie exhibition. When the exhibition ended - given its subject matter and the institute's own ambitions for change - Clothes for Progress was the ideal destination for the hoodies. They are on sale from 7 March 2021 for the average price of the various items, which range from a Justin Bieber to a Bernie Sanders campaign hoodie.
By buying a hoodie you contribute to progress; by wearing it you spread the message.
