Sunday Stroll with Esmée
Join us for a Sunday Stroll through 'The Architecture of Staged Realities' on Sunday, 13 February at 2pm. Together with Detour Guide Esmée Dros, we explore Walt Disney's continuing influence on how we live and think.
13 February 2022 14:00 - 15:00
Graphic designer Esmée Dros focuses on telling stories (that need to be told) in her work. She researches how to create connections between imagery and meaning. She works in various forms, from designing figures in different colours for publications, to designing forms of conversation. Esmée is curious by nature. She loves the sun, going to the market and working with people from different disciplines.
"As a detour guide, I would like to use my design practice in order to create something small, together with visitors, so that they always go home with a self-made visual memory."
_The Architecture of Staged Realities_
In _The Architecture of Staged Realities_ the focus is on the influence of Walt Disney on today's built society and sense of identity. While he is praised for his technological innovations and the simplicity and familarity of his storytelling, there is another side to Disney and his empire.
The ingenuity with which he seamlessly entwines fairy tales and reality is accompanied by a compelling but one-sided conception of what the resulting wonderful worlds - and their inhabitants - should look like. Discover in the exhibition how Disney's ideas continue to influence everyday life.
