The research project Modernisms Along the Indian Ocean delves into the architectural landscapes, infrastructures and logistics of port cities along the Indian Ocean, exploring the significance of colonial encounters, vernacular modernisms and post-colonial ideals. During the event, discover how these cities formulate cultural legacies that gravitate towards a particular dominant Black critical theory, foster diasporas, and intertwine to form archival landscapes and engage in fluid narrative journeys, negotiating routes, aesthetics and diasporic commons in a post-global context.
