New Store: Wool Planter Workshop

For the New Store, the Nieuwe Instituut’s regenerative museum shop, Pollyanna Moss and Minne Zeijdner are developing a DIY felted nursery pot for growing and then planting seedlings in the ground. Join their workshop and create your own prototype wool planter using a simple felting technique.

28 May 2026 16:00 - 19:00

Wool Planter Prototype by Pollyanna Moss and Minne Zeijdner

The planters are made from the wool of local Rotterdam sheep that graze the city’s green spaces. The wool is unwashed and therefore contains all the nutrients that support soil health. The planters are designed to be used indoors while the seedlings are growing, and can then be transplanted to the soil, where they will naturally break down.

During the workshop, participants will also learn about local sheep and the benefits of wool for soil health while making their pots. All materials are provided, and you can take your creation home at the end of the evening. By taking part, you will be helping to develop a new product that will soon be released at the New Store.

About Pollyanna Moss and Minne Zeijdner

Pollyanna Moss is a textile designer and researcher of Indian and Dutch heritage. By collaborating with shepherds, weavers and fashion designers, she incorporates local materials into textile production. She is currently working on the Wolwevers project at the Weverijmuseum in Geldrop, and is the manager of the New Order of Fashion Lab in Eindhoven. She sources her wool locally from shepherds across the Netherlands and uses it to teach the process of making wool from fibre to fabric, and from raw hide to handmade wet-felted designs.

Minne Zeijdner is part of the Fashion Tech Farm Incubator. In this environment, she draws on her background as an industrial design engineer and artisan tailor. She developed DieKees, a biodegradable plant pot made from wool that eliminates the need for plastic grower pots.

New Store

The New Store is the Nieuwe Instituut's museum shop where we envision the shop of the future: one that helps rather than harms the environment. New Store ultimately aims to be completely regenerative. It acts as a testing ground, bringing designers’ ideas and proposals into the real world. Together, we explore what it means to design, produce and shop in a fully regenerative way. Every product in the museum shop is the result of a partnership with a local designer.
