FamilieFest: BFF
We’re wrapping up the year with a familiar recipe: FamilieFest: BFF! For this festive edition, expect the best workshops and activities from this year’s FamilieFests, including face painting and the return of the beloved Bammetjesbar. Bring your best friends (BFFs!), family, neighbours or classmates, and come build, create, explore and play together. The perfect way to kick off the holidays!
23 December 2026 09:00 - 15:00
The full programme is staying under wraps for just a little longer, but expect a festive mix of the best workshops from this year’s earlier editions. We’ll be sharing more soon, so keep an eye on this page.
You can count on more than enough to do for the whole family: from a baby corner for the littlest ones to a quiet space where you can catch your breath. Take part in the family scavenger hunts through the exhibitions or discover the children’s exhibition Future Makers! on the third floor. And don’t forget: get your face painted with a design of your own!
Language: Dutch/English | Location: Nieuwe Instituut | Tickets: € 4,50 or free with a Rotterdampas or Museum pass

FamilieFest is an event that takes place at the Nieuwe Instituut in every school holiday, and you and your family are invited! It’s a day filled with educational workshops and fun activities for children from 4-12 years old. Each edition is organised around one theme, such as solar energy or magical realms. Will you join us on this adventure?
