Building Herstories
In the light of International Women’s Day, the Nieuwe Instituut is revisiting the hidden stories of women in architecture, planning and design through the “herstories” of the Vrouwen Bouwen Wonen network. Featuring insightful discussions, video clips and presentations, the evening will illuminate the vital but often overlooked contributions of women in these fields.
7 March 2024 18:00 - 19:30
Building Herstories brings together the passionate researchers, archivists and others who have uncovered these stories for a discussion about women in architectural practice, their evolving roles and changing attitudes towards them. The event encourages reflection on the need to archive these “herstories” and asks the crucial question: what more can be done to preserve and celebrate the significant contributions of women in shaping our built environment?
The evening will feature clips from interviews by Lidewij Tummers, commissioned as part of the Collecting Otherwise Herstories series and filmed by Marit Geluk.
Speakers
Marit Geluk, Lidewij Tummers, María Novas, Hetty Berens, Setareh Noorani and the Vrouwen Bouwen Wonen network. Moderated by Sandra Rottenberg, who recently launched the 2Doc podcast Vrouwen die bouwen (in Dutch).
