Security is us knowing who you are, through identification and control. Security is keeping you where you cannot do harm. Security is you being anonymous, not letting anyone identify you. Stay safe, form your own army, don't trust anyone, especially us.

8.2 SMART GUN

Preventing unauthorised use

Armatix

Armatix Smart System With conventional handguns, the gun is no longer secured the moment the shooter removes it from the safe or other security system. Armatix's Smart System employs electronic intelligence in order to extend gun safety.

Smart System's radio-controlled watch is responsible for gun access and use. A Smart System gun will only shoot if it is within range of its watch. As soon as the gun loses radio contact with the watch - for example if it is knocked out of the shooter's hand or in case of loss or theft - it automatically deactivates itself. It is possible to release the safety mechanism via the radio-controlled watch with a PIN code.

8.3 PROTEST SUIT

Amplifies your heartbeat at large-scale street protests

Ralph Borland

Suited for Subversion Suited for Subversion is a suit that protects the wearer at large-scale street protests. The suit also monitors the wearer's pulse and projects an amplified heartbeat out of a speaker in the chest of the suit. As much as the suit is armour, it is also disarming; as much provocation as protection.

Opponents ensure that the RIOT Police can train as realistically as possible. Various scenarios are simulated, and opponents are asked to take on roles that range from passive and cooperating, to demonstrating and throwing blocks at the RIOT Police. During the training, violent behaviour is enacted both towards the RIOT Police and towards the opponents.

8.5 ALGORITHMIC CITIZENSHIP

Your rights determined by how you appear to the internet

James Bridle

Citizen Ex Algorithmic Citizenship is a form of citizenship which is not assigned at birth, or through complex legal documents, but through data. Like other computerised processes, it can happen at the speed of light, and it can be constantly revised and recalculated. It can split a single citizenship into an infinite number of sub-citizenships, and count and weight them over time to produce combinations of affiliations to different states. As citizenship is constantly questioned, calculated and rewritten, so are the individual's allegiances and rights.

Citizen Ex calculates an individual's Algorithmic Citizenship based on where she or he goes online. Every site visited is counted as evidence of affiliation to a particular place, and is added to one's constantly revised Algorithmic Citizenship. Because the internet is everywhere, one can go anywhere - but because the internet is real, this also has consequences.

This form of citizenship is already in use by state intelligence agencies.

Anonymous Anonymous is a loosely associated international network of activist and hacktivist entities.

Anonymous members oppose internet censorship and control, and the majority of their actions target governments, organisations, and corporations that they accuse of censorship. The group's few rules include not disclosing one's identity, not talking about the group, and not attacking media.

Anons can be distinguished in public by the wearing of Guy Fawkes masks.

8.9 OFF-THE-SHELF PERSONS

Constructing synthetic natural persons for you

Heath Bunting

Special Purpose Human Organ Vehicle (work in progress) Heath Bunting creates off-the-shelf persons (new identities) for special projects - for example, for safely investigating secret police corruption.

In this case though, a new identity is created as a special purpose vehicle to circumvent international law enforced to prevent human organ trafficking. It is illegal for one person to sell a human organ to another person, but not illegal for a person to sell a person who is the owner of human organs.

So, the new identity acquires the organs via donations and then the new identity, with its rights to the organs, can be sold itself. The synthetic natural person thus becomes a special purpose human organ vehicle.

8.10 INVISIBLE

Resist genetic surveillance

Heather Dewey-Hagborg

Invisible Invisible is a tactical kit for protection against new forms of biological surveillance.

Created by information artist Dewey-Hagborg, the first spray is called Erase and it's an 'anti-DNA cleaning product' similar to a disinfectant spray. Replace, on the other hand, is an obfuscation spray that adds a mixture of genetic material to a DNA sample to cloak the details of the original. As a set it can be used to wipe everything clean, or leave an alternate genetic sample to protect one's genetic privacy.
