Long may we live!
Delfshove (1986) Van den Broek en Bakema, J. Boot
The emancipated pensioner
Delfshove residential care centre, designed by architects Van den Broek & Bakema, was built in Delft in the 1970s. In this design drawing, parts of the building are 'broken open' to reveal the interior. Social contact and modern living are central to the design. The modern car in the foreground contrasts with the old-fashioned model in the background. The design and means of visualisation shows that emancipation is a new reality for pensioners.
