Talk Show 2: Universal Equity (17 May)

Equity begins with difference. It asks us to recognise that people live, move, and create from vastly different starting points—and that these differences matter. Instead of aiming to treat everyone the same, equity invites us to shape our spaces, systems, and stories in ways that respond to the realities of inequality.

Date: 17 May, 2025
Location: Event Space, Netherlands Pavilion
Time: 15:00-17:00
Admission: Free (with valid Expo ticket)

In this Talk Show, four practitioners from the Netherlands and Japan reflect on how equity plays out in cultural work—through choreography, digital design, community-making, and embodied storytelling. What role can artists, dancers, and designers play in creating conditions for belonging?

The Talk Show creates space for conversation shaped by concrete projects, lived experience, and the desire to think together across difference. Netherlands-based participants will also introduce their work through brief, focused presentations.

This Talk Show features:

  • Nathalie Dixon and Klasien van der Zandschulp, affect lab (NL) – researcher and creative director of affect lab, working at the intersection of technology, culture, and emotional justice
  • Adriaan Luteijn (NL) – choreographer and artistic manager at Introdans, known for inclusive dance work with performers of diverse abilities and backgrounds
  • Dai Matsuoka (JP) – performer and director of LAND FES, a site-specific dance platform exploring connection through movement in everyday environments
  • Hiro Ozaki (Sputniko!) (JP) – British-Japanese multimedia artist whose practice explores the intersection of technology, identity, and contemporary society
