General Terms and Conditions
Article 1 Introduction
1.1 The Membership aims to support the mission of the Nieuwe Instituut by providing a financial contribution.
1.2 Member activities are connected to the programme of the Nieuwe Instituut and are partly aimed at offering an additional programme centred around themes from the field of design.
Article 2 Membership
2.1 Membership is established when the applicant completes the registration form and the Nieuwe Instituut confirms the registration. The Membership is open to both companies and individuals.
2.2 By completing and submitting the registration form, the applicant accepts that these General Terms and Conditions for Membership apply.
2.3 The Nieuwe Instituut reserves the right to refuse an application. In the exceptional case that this occurs, the Nieuwe Instituut will substantiate that decision. In doing so, the Code Cultural Governance, the Code Diversity & Inclusion, the code of conduct, and the principles of multivocality will, among others, be guiding.
Article 3 Financial Contribution
3.1 From the date of registration, a Member is required to pay an annual financial contribution.
3.2 The amount of the contribution is determined annually by the Nieuwe Instituut.
3.3 The annual contribution depends on the type of Membership. In 2026, the fee for a Company Membership is €350 excluding VAT per year for a package of 10 Membership passes. For regular Members the fee is €45 per year, and for Members under the age of 30 it is €25 per year.
3.4 The Membership fee (Young and Regular) is collected by means of an annual direct debit authorization provided by the Member. The annual contribution is due from the date of registration.
3.5 Company Membership is invoiced by the Nieuwe Instituut and must be paid within a payment term of 30 (thirty) days.
3.6 Termination of the Membership before the end of the calendar year does not entitle the Member to a refund of the contribution already paid.
3.7 The Nieuwe Instituut is recognised as a Public Benefit Organisation (ANBI). This means that financial contributions may be tax-deductible according to the conditions of the Dutch Geefwet (Tax Incentive for Donations Act). More information is available online.
Article 4 Duration of Membership
4.1 In the first year, Membership runs until the end of that calendar year.
4.2 After the end of the first calendar year, the Membership will automatically be renewed for one calendar year, unless the Membership is cancelled in time in accordance with Article 4.3.
4.3 Membership may be terminated by the Member without stating a reason by cancelling it before the beginning of the next calendar year (i.e., the cancellation must be submitted no later than 31 December).
4.4 Cancellation can be made via the unsubscribe link received in the confirmation email when the Membership was activated, or by sending an email to members@nieuweinstituut.nl.
4.5 The Nieuwe Instituut may unilaterally terminate the Membership with immediate effect, without being obliged to refund the paid contribution, if circumstances arise that make continuation of the Membership unreasonable. In doing so, the Code Cultural Governance, the Code Diversity & Inclusion, the code of conduct, and the principles of multivocality will, among others, be decisive.
Article 5 External Communications Regarding Members
5.1 The Nieuwe Instituut is entitled, but not obliged, to include the names or logos of Members in external communications.
5.2 Members agree that their contact details may be shared with other Members for networking and collaboration purposes, provided that discretion and confidentiality are maintained. If a contact person of a Member objects to this, they should inform the Nieuwe Instituut via members@nieuweinstituut.nl.
Article 6 Member Activities and Benefits
6.1 Members receive invitations to exclusive events such as previews, guided tours, and Studio Visits. Registration is subject to availability and processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
6.2 Members receive a personal Membership card. The card provides unlimited free access to the Nieuwe Instituut and Huis Sonneveld.
6.3 Members receive discounts at the Nieuwe Café and NAi Booksellers.
Article 7 Other Provisions

7.2 The visitor terms and conditions of the Nieuwe Instituut apply to every visit to the institute. These can be consulted on the website of the Nieuwe Instituut.
