World.orbit: Lukáš Likavčan
13 November 2020 14:00 - 14:45
How are politics shaped by different cosmologies?
The third session of world.orbit will feature a presentation by Lukáš Likavčan, writer on philosophy of technology, political ecology and visual cultures, and author of Introduction to Comparative Planetology (Strelka Press, 2019). In this talk, Lukáš Likavčan will explore the cosmic background of comparative cosmology and will discuss how visual cultures and philosophical endeavours develop cosmologies that in effect shape as well as constrain political discourses and practices.
This is part of a series of workshops called Vertical Atlas - world.orbit, a public research project focusing on a critical and generative engagement with satellite data. In a series of workshops, artists and designers can learn how to find, read, process and translate satellite data. Alternative digital cartographies can identify other ways of representing global and local developments in narratives that help us to see Earth anew.
Two other livestreamed talks took place on the 30 October and 13 November 2020.
