Sharjah Architecture Triennial 2023: Workshop Regenerative Exchange
As part of the Sharjah Architecture Triennial 2023 (United Arab Emirates), on the theme of the Beauty of Impermanence, the Nieuwe Instituut will host a workshop that asks whether waste and the way we deal with it can be transformed into a regenerative exchange. Focusing on the critical issue of waste management in and around cities and sites around the world, the workshop will address the ongoing challenges posed by our habits of consumerism, global disparities in waste destinations, and the materiality of waste itself. The workshop aims to explore the potential of regenerative practices and rethink material exchange to drive sustainable change.
12 November 2023 16:00 - 17:00
The workshop will serve as a platform for practices associated with this year’s event, fostering connections and drawing insights from the wider Sharjah Architecture Triennial network. It will include a series of mapping exercises that will ultimately contribute to the development of a glossary of regenerative practices in waste management. The workshop will take place on Sunday 12 November from 17:00 to 18:00 at the Old Al Jubail Vegetable Market.
