In this workshop led by De Vroede Vrouw (The Midwife), you will learn about the ancient art of dowsing or water divination. The workshop is part of the Water Matter programme, curated by Rianne Makkink (WaterSchool), which explores the knowledge contained in water within the context of 'Neuhaus', Academy for more-than-human knowledge.

De Vroede Vrouw
In this workshop De Vroede Vrouw will introduce the basic techniques of dowsing, the ancient art of locating underground sources of water and minerals. How can we learn to tune into energy from the soil, plants and trees? De Vroede Vrouw will explain the difference between water veins and earth radiation and will demonstrate how they can be detected. She will also talk about the pendulum's ability to answer simple questions.
The WaterSchool is a self-initiated project by Studio Makkink & Bey, the design practice of Rianne Makkink and Jurgen Bey. This speculative school, organised around water as an essential resource and as a social and political phenomenon, proposes a rethinking of the existing economic and infrastructural model of education.
