Virtual Fashion with Jacob Kok

18 February 2016 20:00 - 22:00

Jacob Kok, See the Light

Fashion exists not only in the physical domain but can also create new realities through animation and virtual reality. Fashion designer and animator Jacob Kok enjoys working in both realms. During this evening he showed his favourite new films and virtual reality fragments. Earlier this year Kok made the documentary See the Light about the influence of digital developments on human identity.

Jacob Kok studied animation at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and fashion at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. In 2011 he won Project Catwalk with his 'Oerknal' collection. At Amsterdam Fashion Week in 2012 he presented his 'Schatzoeken' collection, for which he developed futuristic digital woven fabrics with the Textielmuseum in Tilburg. Together with The Sims, Kok developed 'Paradise', the first collection ever designed for a computer game. His most recent collection, 'Evolution', was developed in partnership with software developer Autodesk. You can view fragments of Kok's work here.

This Thursday Night is part of the Temporary Fashion Museum project.
