From cube to goblin
26 October 2014 14:00 - 14:00
Experience the ideas of structuralists like Piet Blom, Jaap Bakema and Nico Zwarts in two hours. Rotterdam is renowned as a modernist city, but 'resistance' to the uniformity and scale of modernism is equally present, considering pioneering designs such as the Cube Dwellings by Piet Blom and the Central Library by Broek en Bakema. Together with the elevated residential complex by Nico Zwarts and the housing maze commonly known as the Goblin Village by Verhoeven, they paint a completely different picture of architecture in Rotterdam.
