- Minimum Space, Maximum Green, with Coöperatie STEK (English/Dutch)
In a highly urbanised environment, it’s important not to lose touch with nature. Just like the garden, the balcony or roof terrace can be an important part of the ecological environment. But how do you best organise these small spaces? Coöperatie STEK, an expert on urban greening, gives tips.
- Urban Gardening For More Butterflies, with Nicky Castricum (Dutch)
In this workshop, Nicky Castricum (Mot in Mokum butterfly garden and the Ontheemtuin or relocation garden) will tell you all about what butterflies and wild bees need in the city and in your garden. We will look at managing mowing in flower meadows and gardening on poor soils. You will leave with a number of host plants that are essential in a butterfly-friendly garden, so make room for them now!
- Tools to Compost City-Style, with Kate Price (English)
Artist, gardener and avid composter Kate Price teaches participants the art of composting as a daily routine in their own home environment. Come prepared to get your hands dirty. You will be asked to bring some of your organic waste as practice material. You will leave with a rich, nutritious humus to incorporate into your soil.
