TINY [BAU]HAUS
The 'TINY [BAU]HAUS' by the German National Tourist Board (DZT) and DUS Architects is travelling around Europe, and in April will be pitching up at Het Nieuwe Instituut. In the 3D-printed mini-house, visitors can get a complete sensory experience of the three Bauhaus locations Weimar, Dessau and Berlin.

With TINY [BAU]HAUS, the German National Tourist Board is exploring parallels between current events and the circumstances in which Bauhaus was created a century ago. In the contemporary 'tiny houses' movement, for instance - whereby city dwellers are trying to reduce their ecological footprints - the project group sees a reflection of the commitment of the Bauhäusler of a hundred years ago. The design by DUS Architects (realised by Aectual) in turn echoes the innovation and urge to experiment so typical of Bauhaus.
As part of the worldwide celebrations marking the centenary, this miniature building is touring cities including Amsterdam, Paris, Barcelona, Marseille, Vienna, Prague, Budapest and Copenhagen. Presentations and events are being organised everywhere along the route. In Rotterdam, TINY [BAU]HAUS will be located by Het Nieuwe Café, where it acts as a kind of prelude to the Neuhaus temporary academy: Het Nieuwe Instituut's own highly individual celebration of a century of Bauhaus.
