Thursday Night Detour with Pia
Join us for a free Thursday Night Detour on 11 August at 7pm. Detour Guide and professional observer Pia Canales shows us around 'Designing the Social'. Or in this case, designing the anti-social. Come along and discover the exhibition from her point of view and explore the power of the angry mountain.

Pia Canales
Pia Canales is a professional observer of everyday things. Thanks to her hyper-curious attitude, she knows a little about a lot of things, and thanks to her background in art, she knows too much about a few more things. Her favourite things are peanut butter, inter-dimensional aliens, and amateurs.
"I walk in circles, I only walk in circles, I walk in circles for hours, I keep walking in circles, every circle is different."
Designing the Social: 100 Years of Idiosyncratic Living in the Netherlands
How has design contributed to new forms of living, working, and communicating in society? This question is central to the exhibition _Designing the Social_. Designers, researchers, and curators have selected and reinterpreted pieces from heritage collections and archives to tell us a range of stories about a century of social design.
Thursday Night Detour
Every Thursday night a Detour Guide takes you on a free Detour through one of the exhibitions on display at Het Nieuwe Instituut. Discover design, digital culture and architecture from the perspective of your guide. Every Detour is different: you might end up working on a joint choreography or designing a space for insects.
