Sunday Scroll with Pia
12 April 2020 14:00 - 15:00
'Art-directucator' Pia Canales hosts this week's _Sunday Scroll _(12 April) on Facebook Live. This digital detour is an exploration of themes in The Hoodie exhibition that speak to her as a designer. Her scroll will focus on the hoodie in subcultures.
Pia is a professional observer of everyday things. Thanks to her hyper-curious attitude, she knows a little too much, and thanks to her background in art, she knows a little bit more.
"I walk in circles, I only walk in circles, I walk in circles for hours, I keep walking in circles, every circle is different."
Most of us own one. The hoodie is everywhere: from the street to the sidelines of every sports field, and from the catwalk to the office and the studio. For some of us, the hoodie is just a casual, comfortable thing to wear, but for others it comes with all kinds of unavoidable social and cultural baggage. You might even say that it's the last political garment in Western fashion. In _The Hoodie _exhibition, the hoodie is central - as storyteller and bearer of a wide range of different meanings.
