Summer School for the Apocalypse: 'Apocalypse Camp'
The House of Being in collaboration with Neuhaus is proud to present the School for the Apocalypse. This year as a part of the celebration of the 100 years' anniversary of the Bauhaus; a codification of 'the modern' in a pedagogy that could produce the new world, the School for the Apocalypse will explore what the curriculum for a post-human living and design would be in our current era.
21 September 2019 10:00 - 22 September 2019 18:00
The School invites practitioners, artists, and thinkers to join the search for building blocks that could make up a 'curriculum' for the 'Anthropocene'. Or to be more precise, to explore how to live, learn, and die in the 'Anthropocene'.
In the three sessions during the summer, together we will search for practices, institutions, artifacts, and pedagogies that (re)connect us to our present environment in meaningful ways. We will jointly develop a broader framework of thought, engagement, and action, which will eventually translate into a series of societal and artistic interventions performed by students at the Summer School for the Apocalypse in September.
Three-day Summer School for the Apocalypse
During the three-day Apocalypse Camp, students will implement the findings of the School for the Apocalypse. From that they will have the chance to develop their interventions and projects that give expression to their findings. A maximum of 15 students will work for three days and their projects will be presented late November.
The Camp facilitates an experiential learning community with time for deeply personal and worldly conversations on what truly matters to 'us'. We will explore ways of navigating these ambiguous and disturbing times, fed by rich sources and practitioners in art, science, and societal engagement.
