Other roles

In her research, Lara Schrijver studies women who were active in design and construction processes at the end of the twentieth century. Relatively little is known about the work of women builders during this period. Moreover, as women often fulfilled other roles than that of the traditional ‘architect’, they are often less—and differently—represented in archives and journals.

The workshop revolves around the questions: How can we deal with these challenges? How do you look for those who have contributed in other roles? How do you work with the polyphony of architectural archives? And how did women builders collaborate or unite during this period between 1970 and 1999?
