The Soul of The City: Encounters with Syrians in the city
The arrival of so many new citizens is an opportunity. It calls for new coalitions, new ways of constructing, working and planning. It calls for creativity and trail & error. It calls for new ways of looking at each other from the perspective of opportunity rather than threat. It all starts with the first encounter. This evening we will explore these questions together with experienced innovative coalitions in the field of housing, music, culture and architecture.

What is happening in Rotterdam? Which new coalitions are being built? What are their insights and findings? What can we learn from them to innovate and adapt for a new future? These include: Stichting Nieuw Thuis Rotterdam (Sayida Goedhoop & Sarah Akili), Working together in music (Amer Shanati & Janneke Groesz) and Rebuilding Institute (Bengin Dawod & Taco de Neef, Het Nieuwe Instituut).
In the light of these new coalitions we will present the new book: _Ontmoetingen met Syriers, achtergrond en cultuur van onze nieuwe buren_. This book is an example of what happens when we listen to each other's lives and professional stories: new coalitions are created.
