A Situated Video Channel

Leading up to 'Set Stage Screen: A Situated Video Channel', this online programme on 24 September invites artists and filmmakers Hannah Dawn Henderson, Safiq Nasution, Natalia Papaeva, Ashley Röttjers, and Geo Wyeth & Jay Tan to introduce and reflect upon their work and their use of film and video, each using their own audiovisual language and the video format.

24 September 2021 19:30 - 20:15

_Set Stage Screen: A Situated Video Channel_ presents the audiovisual work of the five artists throughout various public locations in the city of Rotterdam, during the weekend of 25 and 26 September. Set Stage Screen reflects on how the urban environment takes centre stage through video and film. The participating artists share a personal bond with the city of Rotterdam. Safiq grew up here, it made Ashley aware of sisterhood, Natalia rediscovered her mother tongue, Hannah saw Manchester in it, and Geo & Jay wade through its waters. By using several of the city's publicly accessible sites in times of lockdown, the artists in _Set Stage Screen _reconfigure the generic experience of video, forging a relationship to the embodied space that allows for messier--yet more enriching--viewing experiences.

Set Stage Screen: A Situated Video Channel

Set Stage Screen is curated by Metahaven and Furtado Melville in collaboration with Het Nieuwe Instituut.
